LIFTER/SUPPORTER MEMBERSHIP

Weightlifting Wales and British Weight Lifting share a joint membership platform, bringing additional benefits to their mutual members. This is all managed by the site, Sport 80.

There are different types of memberships available; Youth Club member, Junior Club member, Senior Club member, Unattached member and a Supporter member. Each provide their own benefits. These such benefits include:

  • Public Liability and Personal Accident Insurance (please refer to the BWL Insurance Zone for details)
  • Eligibility to compete in British and Welsh Weight Lifting events
  • Discount on spectator tickets at BWL National Events
  • Discount on BWL Education courses
  • 25% discount with Eleiko after you’ve been a member for 3 months
  • 10% discount with Sport & Fitness Flooring
  • Discounted hotel rates through Hotel Planner
  • Member newsletter

CLUB MEMBERSHIP

Licensed club minimum requirements

To be become an affiliated club you’ll need to meet the following minimum standards.

 

Welfare Officer (Compulsory)

  • British Weight Lifting Club or Unattached Membership (not Supporter Membership)
  • Valid enhanced DBS / PVG check (renewal is due every 2 years) through British Weight Lifting or through the government’s DBS Update Service
  • Up-to-date safeguarding and protecting children certificate (renewal is due every 3 years). Training must be completed live, either virtually or in person. This needs to be uploaded to your membership profile. We recommend: UK Coaching’s Safeguarding & Protecting Children Workshop
  • Significant Safeguarding knowledge.
  • All information logged onto Sport 80

Clubs may affiliate to Weightlifting Wales, by purchasing a joint membership through British Weight Lifting.

  • Support to work towards becoming a WW Academy

As your club develops, your lifters will have the opportunity to compete at local, regional and national competitions. They will be able to compete for national titles, attempting to beat national records, with the possibility of being selected to represent Wales and/or Team GB at international events.

CLUB MEMBERSHIP / AELODAETH CLWB

Our affiliated club scheme is reserved for those clubs who want to be an officially recognised Olympic Weightlifting or Para Powerlifting club which can organise a WW / BWL recognised competition, and intends to meet the minimum requirements set out in order to attain your club license.
