Welsh Records

Current Welsh Lifting Records

In order to preserve the previous Welsh Lifting Records while aligning to the new International Weightlifting Federation (IWF) weight categories, we used a formula to convert the previous Welsh records.

This was done by taking the previous record, and multiplying it by the percentage change of the weight category. For example, the previous women's 76kg category moved to 77kg, therefore the record was multiplied by 101.32 (the respective percentage change) and then rounded to the nearest kilogram.

The records broken in the new bodyweight categories have come from results from Tier 1 and 2 competitions from the period they came into effect, June 1st, 2025 (apart from the Welsh Spring Open event in May 2025 which was conducted in the new bodyweight categories in preparedness for this change). Welsh records will only be accepted from Tier 1, Tier 2 and international competitions. Tier 3 results will not be accepted. All national records in the different age groups can be found below, as well the historic records.
