Weightlifting Wales Head Coach announcement

Weightlifting Wales is delighted to announce the appointment of Gareth Evans as Head Coach.

Weightlifting Wales is delighted to announce the appointment of Gareth Evans as Head Coach. Gareth is well-renowned both internationally and within Wales and joins the organisation with over 20 years of experience. Gareth will begin his position with the National Governing Body towards the latter part of June.

Gareth Evans said, “I can’t wait to get started in the role of head coach for Weightlifting Wales. After competing for over 20 years internationally for Wales, the opportunity to be back in not just a competition environment but also squad and development environment is something that excites me and I can’t wait to share my knowledge and experience.”

“We have a fantastic group of promising young athletes that make up the respective age group squads.”

“I’m looking forward to working with both the athletes and their personal coaches in and out of competition with the sole focus of helping to guide them onto performing and being successful on the international stage in that red vest, that we are all very proud to wear.”

Whilst announcing Gareth’s appointment, Simon Roach, Strategy and Development Manager said, “We are delighted that Weightlifting Wales has been able to secure Gareth as the new Head Coach, with many years of experience in the sport, he has a wealth of knowledge and the ability to drive and inspire athletes at all levels within the Welsh pathway. We are looking forward to Gareth beginning his role at Weightlifting Wales.”
