The Commonwealth Games 2022 will be held in Birmingham, UK, between the 28th July and the 8th August 2022. It has recently been confirmed that the Weightlifting and Para Powerlifting events will take place between the 30th July and 4th August 2022. This is an extremely exciting time for Weightlifting and Para Powerlifting!
Weightlifting Wales requires any athlete who intends to qualify for this Commonwealth Games to sign and return the Declaration of Interest in Qualifying form, which is below. Please read the full document thoroughly and ensure you understand the agreement. You should then print, sign in writing and return to hannah.powell@weightlifting.wales no later that 31st December 2020.
Declaration of interest in qualifying form
You must have a valid WW/ BWL membership from the time of signing this form, throughout the qualification period in order to be eligible to be selected.
You must also fully adhere to the WW / BWL anti-doping policy, which is in-line with the UKAD and WADA standards. For information on anti-doping, please click here, ensure you are aware of the Prohibited list and the changes made to that and the WADA Code in 2021. We are currently awaiting final confirmation on the qualification process from the Commonwealth Games Federation, before our own qualification and selection process is finalised.
Weightlifting Wales specify a ranking of top 6 within the one-per-nation-per-category rankings at the end of the qualification process.
