Weightlifting Wales is delighted to congratulate Sandra Smith-Vokroj on receiving the Louis Martin MBE Lifetime Achievement Award as part of the 2025 edition of the British Weightlifting Annual Achievement Award annoucements.

The award recognises long-term dedication and a lasting impact on the sport and is a well-deserved recognition of Sandra's outstanding contribution to weightlifting over more than four decades.

Sandra has dedicated over 40 years to weightlifting, making an exceptional impact as an athlete, International Technical Official and volunteer.

As a lifter, Sandra represented Great Britain at numerous international competitions, including World Championships. She also enjoyed an outstanding career in Powerlifting, achieving the remarkable distinction of competing at World Championships in both Weightlifting and Powerlifting within the same year - a testament to her versatility, commitment and ability at the highest level.

Away from the platform, Sandra has become one of the most respected International Technical Officials within the sport. She has officiated at Commonwealth Games, IWF international competitions and countless national events, earning the respect of athletes, coaches and fellow Technical Officials through her professionalism, knowledge and unwavering commitment.

Here in Wales, we are incredibly fortunate to have Sandra continue to volunteer at our competitions. Whether officiating, mentoring Technical Officials or supporting the delivery of events, Sandra's contribution has helped raise standards across the sport and has benefited generations of Welsh lifters.

At the recent Home Nations Open Championships in Llanelli, Weightlifting Wales was delighted to formally present Sandra with the Louis Martin MBE Lifetime Achievement Award and celebrate her exceptional contribution to our sport alongside members of the Welsh weightlifting community.

Sandra has inspired generations of athletes, coaches and Technical Officials and continues to be a valued member of the Weightlifting Wales family. This recognition is thoroughly deserved, and we offer our sincere congratulations and heartfelt thanks for everything she has given to our sport.
