The Commonwealth Championships, along with the British Championships 2021, are key qualification events for the 2022 Commonwealth Games.

Head Coach Ray Williams says:

"All at Weightlifting Wales congratulate Singapore Weightlifting Federation for being awarded the 2021 Commonwealth Weightlifting Championships. That being said, it is disappointing from a Home Nation perspective that England Weightlifting Federation was not awarded the Championships.

We intend to send a select number of athletes to this event.

My message to all those Welsh athletes who intend to make the Birmingham 2022 Games is a simple one: train sensibly, set realistic goals and most of all, enjoy the process!”
