Weightlifting Wales’ National Coach, Gareth Evans has detailed how positive the British Championships has been for the momentum of Welsh athletes: “It was fantastic to attend the British Championships in Birmingham and see that participation from Welsh athletes was at an all-time high. This indicates that the standard of lifting within Wales is improving and that is a big positive for us as we move into the second half of the 2024 calendar with Commonwealth Championships and Welsh Championships as the primary competitions outside of GBR representation. I would like to also congratulate Matthew Curtain and all the staff at BWL for running a very slick and enjoyable event at the NEC in Birmingham.”
