We were delighted to hear that our applications for SportsAid grants for four of our development squad athletes were granted following our nominations.
Weightlifting Wales is pleased to announce that four of our talented young athletes have been selected, and consequently granted to receive SportsAid grant funding for 2025, following us submitting grant applications earlier this year. Congratulations to Thomas Duggan, Evelyn Thomas, Isla Travers, and Grace Morris, who have each been recognised for their outstanding potential and commitment to the sport.
All four will receive funding directly from SportsAid - the charity supporting talented young athletes to achieve their ambitions in sport and life. This funding will offer vital financial support to assist with training, travel, equipment, and competition costs—helping to ease the pressure on these young athletes as they continue to progress along the Weightlifting Wales performance pathway in the development of them becoming elite weightlifters and para-lifters.
Each of them have demonstrated impressive dedication and achievement at Youth and Junior level, and this support will be instrumental in helping them reach new heights. We are excited to see what the future holds for these highly talented athletes as they strive to set new benchmarks at youth level, and look on to further opportunities to represent Wales at national and international competitions.
We would like to extend our sincere thanks to SportsAid for their continued investment in the future of Welsh sport and their belief in the next generation of weightlifting and para-powerlifting talent.
